VIRTUAL OPEN EVENT

Head of Sixth Form’s Introduction

My name is Helen Fitzwilliam and I am delighted to be working as the pastoral lead for years 12 and 13.

Life in a Sixth Form is a hugely inspiring and exciting time. The leap from GCSEs to A levels can sometimes be challenging, but we work hard with you to make sure you are fully equipped for your next steps, whether you plan to go to university, pursue an apprenticeship or enter the world of work.

My role is to ensure that each of you make the best possible progress by supporting you during your time in the Sixth Form. Together, with the form tutors, I look after your pastoral needs and liaise with home when necessary. Morecambe Bay Academy Sixth Form has high aspirations for all its students, and I will do everything I can to make sure you achieve your full potential.

I also work alongside the academy’s careers adviser to enable you to explore the opportunities available to you and to facilitate relevant work experience.

Above all, it is important that you enjoy your time with us. Morecambe Bay Academy Sixth Form has a reputation for being lively, caring and purposeful. We offer a wide range of enrichment activities including CV writing, visiting speakers, budgeting and finance. In addition, there are leadership opportunities available for those who wish.

In short, I am proud to work in this Sixth Form; it is a privilege to watch our young people develop and grow as they prepare for the next stage of their lives. We believe in you and will do all we can to prepare you for the future.
